How cameras work: an introduction to the vision camera
A camera is an optical instrument. This optical instrument is used to record images. Cameras asre sealed boxes (at their most basic). The word camera comes from camera obscura. This means dark chamber. It is the Latin name of the original device for projecting an image of reality that is external and brings it to a flat surface. If you compare history with today’s cameras, you can find a lot of differences. The vision camera for example, is one of the newest versions of cameras that do exist today. Digital cameras, like the vision camera for instance, are very common these days. A digital camera is sometimes called a digicam. That is a camera that captures photographs in digital memory. They use a lens with a variable diaphragm to focus light on an (image) pickup device. Most of this type of cameras do have preset modes for different applications. They have become smaller over time and that is also the reason that the batteries have become smaller. This does not mean that the quality is lower than before, there is no need to worry about that. What is the history of the camera?
The history of the camera goes way back. The history of the camera begins even before the introduction of photography. Cameras were evolved even from the camera obscura, this through many generations of photographic technology, to the modern day with digital camera and camera phones. The camera obscure was a long time ago, back in the 11th – 17th century. This was the forerunner to the photographic camera. In other words, the natural optical phenomenon that occurs when an image of a scene at the other side of a screen is projected through a small hole and forms an image on a surface, forms this opposite to the opening. The earliest camera were room-sized. There was only space for one or two more people inside. The first camera was small and portable, it was created by Johann Zahn, doing this in 1685.
